With office holiday parties, family get-togethers and NYE on the horizon, the art of the perfect coif becomes all the more necessary. If you are tired of getting your locks tangled up in your scarf or pulled into your winter coat's zipper, we have assembled a few looks to help keep your do looking party-ready as well as out of your face when those unexpected, chilly winds whip around the corner!
Go-to Top Knot
The top knot bun has certainly made a name for itself in 2015 - what with the boys jumping on board with their own man bun version - but the holiday reboot adds an extra step to make this look all the more party-ready. By adding a braid to the strands before pinning, the added texture and hold keeps this look going strong after a few spiced ciders. Just braid, wind and pin, holiday look #1 is easy peasey as long as you have longer strands to work with.
Slicked Back Pixie
For the pixies and cropped hair fans, a slicked back alternative to braids and buns and low-slung chignons gives a little extra boost for any office holiday party ensemble. Quick and simple, grab your pomade, rub between your palms and apply to hair as you pull back. A nod to the 1980's masculine/feminine power play, add a blazer and metallic accessories to be a true knockout. Red lips never hurt with this sleek silhouette either!
Mixed Braid Half Updo
Call us crazy, but something about the holidays calls for braids, braids and more braids. By mixing the type: fishtail, knot or basic, this look works best with second day hair and keeps those winter frizz flyaways at bay.
Low Slung Chignon
For the minimalist, a low slung chignon keeps all eyes on your face and dress. Just grab a few bobby pins, hair tie and pull hair into a low pony at the nape of your neck, wind and pin. The chignon holds in place effortlessly and is a great option if you know you will be hitting the dance floor at your next get-together. A touch of hairspray also helps to keep each hair in place while you cut a rug with your coworkers.
Quite possibly one of my favorite holiday hairstyles, the iconic 60's bump appears easy-going yet stylish and just right when topped off with a simple ribbon for any house party. Made famous by Brigitte Bardot, channel your inner French cool girl style with this flirty and effortless halfie undo. Be sure to tease at the crown for extra lift throughout the evening.
Hardware & Mistletoe
Nothing quite says Holiday Hair like a little extra something special added to your look. We're talking serious hardware - barrettes, flashy bobby pins and even mistletoe if you're feeling frisky. To keep the look elegant versus kitschy, think less is more. While flower crowns were the theme of summer, winter florals add a delicate and fresh take. Add curling iron waves or top off a low slung chignon with a headband, either way get creative. Holiday hair only comes around once a year!
