Q: Are all of your classes BYOB?

A: You may bring beer, wine, or cider to any class listed under our Adult page.  All Classes at 6 P.M. and later are 21 and up. You may be asked to present your ID at check-in.

Q: Can I bring my 11 year old to Friday's BYOB class?

A: Due to the BYOB nature of night classes, only adults 21 and up can attend classes labeled "BYOB".

Q: Do you have parking?

A: We do not have a parking lot. Division St. has metered spots that fill quickly on weekends. Hoyne and Levitt Streets have free parking. You may also use the valet from our neighbors. We are also less than a mile from the Blue Line Damen Stop and the Blue Line Division stop.


Q: Do I have to pre-register for a class or can I just show up?

A:  A lot of our classes sell out.  All classes must be registered for in advance.  We are always happy to take last second students if there is space!

A: Classes are very full and we cannot fit food into the studio. 

A:  Customers must cancel at least 24 hours or more prior to class start time to receive a class credit. Cancellations less than 24 hours before class start time will forfeit the class fee.

A: Sorry, we do not offer open studio hours. We do offer art supplies and art kits in store for you to take home and create in a variety of activities!

Art Camps

Q: When do you have day off art camps?

Q: Can I drop my child off early or pick them up late?

A: Our day off art camps are scheduled on days when students have off during the school year. These camps are full days from 9:00-4:00 and are based on a variety of different themes. Students bring their own bag lunch as well as snacks. Scroll to the bottom of the page to read our policies. 

A: Summer art camps run from June through August and are week-long theme-based camps. Students may sign up for full day camps or half days. Each half of the day will have a theme for the full week. Students bring their own bag lunch as well as snacks. Full day students will eat lunch from 12-1. Morning and afternoon half day students will eat snacks during their session.

A: Yes! Before care can start as early as 8:00 and after care can run as late as 5:30.  Children will be provided with unstructured, productive play and art activities. Prices start around $12 an hour per child. Please call 773.276.4420 to make arrangements before your class begins.

A: We are open Tuesday - Friday 11 am - 7 pm, Saturday 11 am - 6 pm, and Sunday 11 am - 5 pm. 

A: We want you to be happy! Returns are eligible for full price credit within 60 days of purchase with receipt or proof of purchase. All returns receive a store credit only. Please see our policies below for more information. 

A: Absolutely! Jewelry repair is free within 3 months of purchase date with receipt, and may incur a fee if purchased longer than 3 months ago. Please see our policies below for more information.




Our classes fill up quickly, so we encourage that you pre-register for all classes (this includes adult, kid, and teen classes and private lessons). We do not accept "walk-ins" for classes, but we are happy to register students last minute if there is space! Please plan to pay ahead online, via phone, or in person prior to the date of your classAll classes must be paid for in full at the time of registration.


Private lessons are offered subject to availability. The cost is $75 per hour per person with a 2 hour minimum, subject to change due to the nature of the lesson. Please call 773.276.4420 to inquire about availability. All class policies apply to private lessons.


Please check in at the front desk before going to class. Kids age 4 years and older in classes may be dropped off and picked up by a parent or guardian after being checked in. Any child younger than age 4 must be accompanied by a guardian for the duration of class.


All classes at One Strange Bird have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Please notify us if you wish to cancel or reschedule your class within 24 hours of the scheduled class start time. If you miss the 24-hour period, you will forfeit your class fee. Class Cancellations by a customer will result in a class credit only. Summer camps must be cancelled at least 1 week in advance of camp start date to receive a full refund.


Tuition for all classes is only refundable in the form of a class credit. Class credits can be used for the amount paid for the class and go toward a class of the same or higher value. Class credits must be used within one year of cancellation.


Please plan in advance to arrive on time for your class. Cancellations due to traffic or late arrival will not be given a class credit and will forfeit the class fee. Parking on the weekend may be difficult, so please plan accordingly. If you are more than 20 minutes late for your class, we may not be able to catch you up with the rest of the class. Late admission into the class will be at the discretion of the teacher.


All classes at One Strange Bird are subject to cancellation if enrollment minimums are not reached. Any class that is unable to meet the enrollment minimum will be cancelled 24 hours prior to the class. Students will be notified of the cancellation via phone or email. Students with cancelled classes due to unreached enrollment minimums are eligible for a full refund or class credit. Please register as early as possible to ensure your class will run.


All class materials will be provided by One Strange Bird. If you would like to bring additional materials to use for classes such as collage, printmaking, etc. for inspiration, you are more than welcome!


Missed classes will not be given a refund or class credit. All classes, including multi-session classes, are subject to our 24-hour cancellation policy. Multi-session classes must be cancelled 24 hours before the date of the first class to be eligible for a class credit. Subsequent missed classes after the first day may not be refunded, credited, or or given additional supplies.


All adult classes listed on the Adult class page are BYOB for anyone age 21+. You may bring beer, wine, or cider to class. Hard liquor is discouraged. You may be asked to present your ID when you check in for class.


All classes at One Strange bird are subject to photography or video-recording. Please notify the teacher if you do not wish to have your picture taken for social media purposes when pictures are being taken. Social media photos are posted on websites such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. and are occasionally used for promotional materials.


All classes at One Strange Bird are recorded by our in-store video cameras for security purposes.


Store refunds and exchanges are offered for items purchased in-store or online with a valid receipt or proof of purchase within 60 days of purchase for the amount of the purchase price. To be eligible for a return, the item must be unused and in the same condition that it was received. All items returned in the original, undamaged packaging without a receipt will receive store credit only. Damaged or used items are not eligible for return or store credit. 


On-line orders are shipped within 2-3 business days via USPS without a tracking number.  Orders are shipped to the exact address through checkout.  If the address is a business, please use the business name and C/O "your name".  Items will arrive first class mail in the US within 2-5 business days. International orders may take up to 30 days.  If the item needs to be rushed, please call 773-276-4420 to make arrangements and pay an additional rush fee.  The customer is responsible for paying the shipping costs of returning an item. The only exception is if the item is damaged.  Shipping costs are non-refundable.  


All jewelry purchased at One Strange Bird with a valid receipt is eligible for free repair within 3 months of purchase date. All One Strange Bird jewelry needing repair after 3 months of the purchase date may be repaired for a fee to cover time and materials. Jewelry repairs may take up to 2 months to complete. All jewelry needing repair but not purchased at One Strange Bird may incur a fee and is subject to discretion of the owner.


One Strange Bird will hold all found items for up to 1 week after being left at the store. If you receive a call regarding a lost item, please claim it within 1 week or call us at 773.276.4420 to make other arrangements. All items left longer than 1 week without other arrangements made for pickup will be donated or disposed.

Art Camp Policies

Campers should dress for mess and come for fun! We wear aprons, but things can get messy! 


Parent/guardians must sign their child or children in and out of camp each day, please provide the best contact number to reach in case of emergency. If parents anticipate someone else picking their child up they must give the information of that adult prior to pick up


No refunds, credits, or “make up classes” will be given for missed days of camps.  All camps at One Strange Bird have a 1-week cancellation policy. If you do not call to cancel within this period, you will forfeit the price of your camp.  Refunds or class credits will not be given for any reason after camp has started. 


All camps are subject to a class minimum, if camps do not meet the minimum they may be subject to cancellation. 


Our camps are mixed aged learning environments for ages 4-11.  Our teachers educate each student at their own skill level, challenging older students and helping younger students.   If classes are at capacity, we will split into two groups by age.  There is a minimum of two adults on site for each class.  Most days, 4 adults are on-site to help.  One Strange Bird cannot guarantee the amount of children by ages or gender.     


Our camps are NUT FREE due to extreme allergies.  Students may not share food or beverages due to allergies.  Students enrolled in the full day camp will eat lunch at 12:00 pm. We cannot accommodate lunches that need to be cooled or heated. Please pack extra food for snacks for campers to eat throughout the day as well as a bottle of water. There is one snack break in the morning, and one in the afternoon. Full day campers eat lunch between sessions.


One Strange Bird offers before and aftercare for parents who would like to drop off early or pick up later than 9-4 camp hours.  In the morning, campers can be dropped off as early as 8 AM.  In the evening, all campers must be picked up by 5:30.  Extra care is $12 and will be billed on the last day of camp.  *Parents that pick up their child after 5:30, may incur an additional fee.  Please email in advance if early care will be needed.  Students dropped off before 8:50 AM will be billed for extra care hours. 


We strive to make a safe and fun place for all of our campers.  We accept all students!  If your child requires any special attention, please call us to make extra arrangements so we can make the best of our camps!  We are open to students who may need an aid to accompany them to class and are more than happy to work with students who may face extra challenges. 


Photos of camper will be taken and used for brochures, email marketing, and social media.  We are understanding if you wish to opt out.  Please email us with your request for no photographs to be taken of your child.
