These are the CUTEST onesies you can make at home or at our baby shower parties at One Strange Bird! Read through and see how you can make your own!
You will need: onesie + patterned fabric + stencils + scissors + iron-on transfer paper + iron + pencil + fabric markers (optional)
Begin by selecting your stencil. You can easily create a stencil if you can draw, or purchase them. Cut a square the size of your stencil from both the patterned fabric and iron-on transfer paper. Remove the slick side of transfer paper and stick it to the back of the patterned fabric. Now, trace the stencil onto the paper-like side of the transfer paper.
Cut out the shapes you drew on the transfer paper. You should now have fabric stencil-shaped pieces with transfer paper on the back.
Remove the paper backing from the fabric. This should leave a plastic-like film on the back of the patterned fabric that will be the "glue" when you iron on the pieces. Arrange the pieces onto your onesie. Use an iron to heat-set the pieces, ironing each pieces for about 8-10 seconds.
Use fabric markers (optional) to draw any free-form designs you want. To add an extra touch of cuteness, try stitching on the fabric pieces! These will be able to be worn as is!
Take lots of cute pics of your babe or give as gifts to a new mom!
